SED 10/2/13

Wed. 10/2/13

Today was a gorgeous day here in mid Mighigan. Fall is in the air, we've had cool (sometimes cold) nights, followed by clear crisp fresh days. Today was sunshine and clear blue skies and temps in the 70's.

I'm trying to avoid turning up the thermostat here, (you know, those heating bills can be killer), but I have heard the furnace kick on at night a couple times anyway, in the past couple of weeks. So far I've succeeded, it's still set right around 58º F, and the actual temp inside has been staying anywhere from the mid 60's to lower 70's for the most part. Then again, I do tend to be the thermostat nazi all winter, (remember those heating bills?) and usually never allow it to be set much above 62 to 63º even in the dead of winter. I know, I know... if you're like my baby (24 now, so not really a baby anymore, but then you probably know how that goes) you'd be whining and crying. When she comes home in the winter and complains about how cold it is, I tell her to go put on a sweatshirt, for crying out loud. Then she gets to hear me repeat my little spiel every year about how if the temps hit 63º in September, nobody runs to turn the heat up, and in the springtime, good lord, if it even breaks 50º people are running around in tee shirts and shorts (which I find a bit strange).

Anyway back to the beautiful autumn season. The trees around us are starting to turn. Since I am out and about and on the road most of the day for my job, I am seeing some dramatic changes in just the past week. And this weekend we get a special treat because we are heading up north to Traverse City so we should get a huge blast of color. Hopefully we will have a nice sunny day like today which really shows off and highlights the fall colors. I'll try to take some pics and post sometime next week if any turn out. Plus an added bonus is we will be watching the two grandbabies, (T age 3 ½ and M age 1) overnight on Saturday. It is son and dil's fifth anniversary (today—actually, so happy anniversary M and B), and they want to get away just for a night. They've never left the baby overnight before so we'll see how it goes. Not sure if grampa and nonnie can keep up with those two, but I'm sure we'll manage somehow. ;)
