It sounds like a fun day with your daughter. Good grief! A $500 stroller? Does it come with a chauffeur?! Our stroller came from Target. Little McG always seemed comfortable enough in it. It was serviceable and lasted until he grew out of it (and beyond--I think we gave it to someone else eventually).
The things I would look for are the removable infant seat, "shock absorber" spring wheels, lots of cargo room to put the baby bag, etc. in, cup holders, and a stroller canopy with a clear plastic space where parent can look and see the baby.
Another gift idea might be a glider rocker. I absolutely loved mine when it came to rocking the baby, late night feedings, etc.
