Hermione peeked through the crack in the doorway and couldn't believe her eyes and ears. Severus Snape, bent over the changing table handling the nappy like it was something he did every day. He seemed a bit too familiar with the whole process to be a newbie. What was going on here?

“How's daddy's precious little witch today, hmmm?” He removed the nappy with magic but cleaned her carefully by hand, applying the special baby bum balm he'd created to prevent a rash, he then put on a dry nappie. “There now, Leah, isn't that so much better?”

Hermione peeked through the crack in the doorway and couldn't believe her eyes and ears. Severus Snape, bent over the changing table handling the nappy like it was something he did every day. He seemed a bit too familiar with the whole process to be a newbie. What was going on here?

Severus stood at the porch rail, coffee in hand surveying the back yard. His eyes rested on the outhouse in the far corner of the yard.

“A knut for your thoughts,” she said, slipping her arm around his waist.

“We need to take that eye-sore down. No one will want to buy this place with an outhouse on the property.”

She studied the ramshackle structure. It had seen better days, surely. It's unpainted gray boards weathered and worn, the entire thing listing slightly to the left. It looked as if a good strong wind would take it down.

The group was drinking and laughing. Someone from their Hogwarts days, seven years earlier, might have found the combination of characters a mystery. There was a blending of houses and no one was threatening each other; in fact, everyone was getting on famously. The rivalries and prejudices of childhood had been put aside amongst all who were gathered at Draco's home in celebration.

Several in the group had completed the arduous process to become masters in their respective fields: Draco in Potions, Luna in Arithmancy, and Hermione, ever the swot, with dual masters in both Arithmancy and Charms with a minor in Potions.
