See my new little friends!

Condsider this my SED, although I'll be honest I'm probably not going to be able to manage everyday. :p

Today though, I am thankful to have the internet,(I'm also especially glad today to have it restored after being  out since last friday). But anyway,  the internet  has allowed me to 'meet' many wonderful friends, whom I otherwise would have never known. People from all around the country and around the world.  I once called my online friends my imaginary friends but then someone told me they aren't imaginary, they're invisible friends because although you may not see them, they are very real. How true it is!

The mail-lady brought a couple of surprise visitors to my house today. A birthday gift from my very dear friend  [livejournal.com profile] talesofsnape thanks so much sweetie! They are adorable and I love them!

LOL! I swear, stores ought to sell these two as a pair. Myself and so many of my online friends have these two now and it's always fun to see photos of them.

Internet friendship is "weird" mainly because we are the fist generation to experience it; but that doesn't make it less real.

The dollies are so cute.

I just finished a book called As Always, Julia that contained a raft of letters between Julia Child and her best friend Avis DeVoto while Julia was writing and trying to get published her first cookbook. She "met" her new best friend when she wrote a fan letter to Avis' husband, who was a writer. (Avis was her husband's secretary.) They began a correspondence that lasted for years before they actually met. Avis later got a job with a publisher and was instrumental in Julia getting published at all. (Most publishing houses said her cookbook was too long.) They stayed firm friends until Avis' death. So,yeah, the internet is basically having a pen pal, only you don't have to wait days (or weeks!) to get a response.
