OWL question?

Is anyone else having really long waits for posting stories at OWL. I posted the first two chapters of my SS/HG fic: A Balance of Three on Sept 6th, so over three weeks ago and have not heard anything back and they are still in queue. I did send a email  about a week ago, to ask if things were just a little slow right now but never heard anything back. Just wondering.

I've recently registered there anew, and my story has been sitting in the vq for three weeks now. I see stories do get posted, but I gather all of them come from validated authors and thus are published automatically.

Well, I have had stories posted there before, but I am not a validated author so I expected it to go through the queue. It has never taken this long before though. But it has been quite awhile since I have posted there. So I wasn't sure if this was the norm now.

I received an IM from someone on my flist who said she is on staff but has been unable to access the necessary parts of the forum to work the queue. And she knows that she is not the only one, but she has not got a response back to her e-mails. She suggested I post a question to the forum and someone who has access may notice it. So I may try that.

I do worry about my favorite forums after the demise of Coloured Grey a while back, a lot of great HG/DM fic vanished when that archives disappeared.

I know at least one of the staffers is in the middle of a massive move, and from what you're saying there may be technical malfunction of some kind going on as well if that other staffer has been having trouble accessing the queue. Posting on the forum is probably a good idea.

Oh, I share the fear, about sites going down. Once happenned to me in Lost fandom, where an entire fic site just popped out of existence together with a load of awesome fic.
Also, thank you for asking this question, I was wondering what happenned, but was kinda reluctant to ask someone publically, thinking, what if it's just me, a silly newb, and things are the way they are supposed to be. I hope everything is fine with OWL, and things are back to normal soon.

I posted the first chap of a story there well over a month ago, and it isn't even in the queue that I can see. I haven't heard anything from anyone either. I've never posted there before and just figured they might not have liked my story. Mebbe there is something else going on...

*grins* Karelia was actually the recipient of my fic. I did submit it there just a few days ago and it is in the queue, moving through slowly, but moving at least. :)

Hey hon,

Just informing you that I'm tickled you're posting this fic with TPP. We are a bit run-down at the moment because the queue is long and some admins have RL issues, but we're working as fast and efficiently as we can. In fact, I tagged your chapter to work on it with clairvoyant, our latest admin. *squees* Yes, we're training a new awesome admin to join the queue works!

Cool! Glad to hear it, and believe me I wasn't complaining. It is moving through the queue and that makes me happy. I totally understand about RL issues, RL sould always take precedence over fandom. At least at TPP I can log into my account and see where my fic stands and see it moving through.

I am still concerned about OWL, as I have not heard anything at all back from over there and it's been nearly a month. Planning to wait a few more days as I am going away for the weekend, then will maybe attempt to contact potionmistress.

I haven't posted at O.W.L (or anywhere) in ages, so I don't know what's going on over there, but it does seem odd that admins can't access the queue and that no one is answering e mails. It's kind of worrisome, actually. Have you tried contacting Potion Mistress directly? She's the Head Administrator and Webmistress at O.W.L. Her LJ name is ordinary_magic. I just checked her journal, and it hasn't been updated since May. Hum... I hope she's ok. :/

Hey, Alley, good to see you here. I did post on Leaky Cauldron forum in the Round table section. It has had a few views but no responses so far but it's only been a few hours. I haven't tried to contact her directly yet, I think I'll wait and see if I get a response to the forum question.

I don't want to seem like I am making a big deal out of waiting a few weeks to get a story validated. I was just curious as to whether others were having the same problem, and if that is now the norm at OWL. I hadn't posted there in quite awhile myself before this. I know RL happens and sometimes that takes precedence, and rightly so. I guess I'll see what happens and if I don't hear anything then I will try to contact her directly and ask.
