She's here! New granddaughter arrives.

Although I haven't seen her in person yet, my new baby grand daughter McKenna Kay (my middle name is Kay so she is kind of named for me!) arrived this afternoon via scheduled c-section, 7lb 12 oz.  (my son neglected to tell us her length)  But she is healthy and baby and daughter-in-law are doing fine. From what my son says my grandson, Thomas, is happy but not quite sure what to make of his new baby sister. (so, typical 2 1/2 year old reaction.)

We will see her in person tomorrow (they live about a three hours drive away). So I will get more pictures then.

Plus we have an extremely busy weekend ahead as it is my youngest daughter J's wedding. The wedding is also about three hours from here, but luckily it is only about an hour drive from there to where my son lives. We have rented a five bedroom house for the weekend for ourselves and other family members so we are leaving tomorrow to go there. Then hopefully we will get to go visit and meet McKenna tomorrow afternoon/evening. Then the rehearsal for the wedding is Friday evening, wedding Saturday, then we got the house for Sunday night too, so we will have a day to unwind. Like I said a busy, busy weekend. The house has wifi so I may pop in from time to time, (or not) as time allows. I will post pic-spam later on after we get home.

I know crazy isn't it? Son and wife started trying right after my other daughter's wedding last Sept. For Thomas they got preggers almost immediately, but it took a couple of months. So although they obviously didn't plan it to coincide with Jess's wedding that is how it worked out. I keep telling people I'm getting a new granddaughter and a new son-in-law all in the same week! LOL

Thanks, M, it is a momentous occasion. It will be a busy weekend but all fun stuff.

We love our new son-in-law, they have been engaged for 3 1/2 years. She was only 19 when they got engaged but they planned to wait until he finished law school and he will graduate in Dec. And Jessie will turn 23 next week. My other daughter got married last year so this whole year has been like deja vu. LOL! I'll be glad to rest for awhile after this. ;) There's only one son left who isn't married but right now he's happy being single.

Thanks for the wedding wishes as well. It will be a super busy weekend but all happy stuff (unlike the last two summers in a row when first two years ago hubby's mom got ill and passed, then a year later his dad)so this is all excellent stuff.

I am too, mia. It was funny they were set on McKenna and were considering Nicole for a middle name just because they liked the sound of it. I suggested to my son, "How about one of your sister's middle names, Michelle, or Rose would both sound good." Then the next time I talked to my DIL, she said "I just LOVE the name McKenna Kay!" I was like what? where did that come from? I am honored that they chose it. And she is adorable!

It was so amazing. We saw her when she was one day old then again yesterday when she was five days old and she has changed already. So sweet and snuggly! :)
