My Hoggywartyxmas fic: All Things Happen for a Reason, is now up at AO3

Just a quick note that I finally got all of my [community profile] hoggywartyxmas Fest fic posted at AO3. This was my first time entry into the fest, and I'm very glad I was able to participate as it may be the last 'formal' showing of the fest. Although there are hopes the community will continue on in other ways.

The fic: All Things Happen for a Reason was written as a gift from a prompt from [personal profile] cabepfir . It is SS/HG.

Summary:
It's eight years post war,2006

Severus has been wandering the world searching for something: a new place, a new life, a new start, could he find what he wanted back where it all began?

Hermione has more than physical scars from the war. Although she teaches at Hogwarts, in her off time she lives a quiet life in a Muggle village under an assumed name.

Can two people damaged by their past find a new beginning?

Also to [personal profile] cabepfir, Thank you for the wonderful prompts, there were two I was drawn to, and it was a hard choice. I hope you're pleased with how it turned out.

Also thanks to the fest owner: [personal profile] therealsnape, and mod: [profile] kellychambliss for all of their hard work in putting it all together.

And a final FYI note: in posting at AO3 I divided the last chapter into two as it was over 9k words. So there are now eight chapters: including a short prologue and seven chapters. Also I added a short bit to the last chapter (between 300-350 words), to fill a plot hole I hadn't previously noticed. ;)

The deal is to pull up the stories that you have on AO3 (would work for any archive with hit counts enabled though) to see which are the top 10 in terms of hits. Then, I guess the idea is later you compare to see what changes there are. I have 24 posted so far but many are little drabbles or drabble series.

One thing I notice right now is that the top 4 fics all have LM/HG and or LM/HG/SS. The rest (# 5 thru 10) are all SS/HG fics. So even though I personally consider SS/HG my OTP right now my LM fics are getting higher hits. (Is Lucius gaining the upper hand over Severus in the competition for Hermione?) Hmmm... May have to check out the hit count at ffnet and see if this is a trend or just random.


I noticed a couple people have complaints about difficulty of posting at AO3 but I have never had a big problem posting things there. Or at least no more than at any other site. What is the difficulty, I wonder?

BTW: If anyone needs one, I have an invite available. :)

As I'm sure nearly everyone has already heard about the closing of OWL. I'm sorry to see it go, even though I really hadn't been there much in over a year, since I started having trouble posting new chapters there.  I see that Kribu just posted with invites to AO3 and it occurred to me that I too have a couple invites available to anyone who might be looking for a new Archive. If you're interested IM me through LJ with your email addy and I will send them off. I have 2 for sure and in the past was able to put in a request and was given a couple more so that's a possibility also. Just let me know.

I will say, I don't get a whole lot of reviews or comments there but I feel like it is somewhere to put my fics and have them available. With the history of archives disappearing, sometimes without any notice like we've had with OWL, I like to have my fics posted is several places rather than put all my eggs into one basket so to speak. I read a post by Bambu where she said that when CG went down a couple of years ago she had a couple dramione fics that she had not posted elsewhere and had no hard copy of, so they are now gone for good. That's sad. :(
