Thanks and an update

Thank you so much to all the wonderful people on my 'flist' who responded to my frantic post yesterday with healing vibes and prayers and postitive thoughts and words of encouragement. It really meant a lot, just to have someone say, 'hey, I've been there too and it worked out.' or 'stay calm and take a deep breath' or just "hey, I'm thinking of you.' Like Teddy said in an earlier post, I really believe in the power of positive energy. It really helped me out, and today looks much better.

Update on McKenna. She has been moved out of ICU. They are fairly certain that what she has is not bacterial which apparently is worse or more of a threat. It is viral, probably enteroviris. It still seems a bit scary to me as apparently there really is no treatment other than to control the fever and let her body fight it off. But my son says the Dr said if you have to get meningitis this is the strain to get. They have taken her off the anti-biotics as they have no effect on a virus. They are still going to monitor her for a bit longer as the Dr said since it is a holiday weekend and they live so far away, she didn't want to take a chance that they would drive for three hours all the way home and then have something go wrong and have to rush all the way back again. So, they will probably keep them there at least another day or two. We are planning to drive over and see them tomorrow as if they do get discharged it will not be until late in the day.

So once again thanks so much to all you wonderful people out there. You are amazing!

Oh, that is such good news! If someone has to be sick, I'm all for the best version of an illness. Now you can go and visit without the utter panic of not knowing what is wrong.

~hugs~ That was exactly what happened with my cousin. He stayed in for a few days, and then recovered nicely. I'm putting that thought out there.

Of course, in 18 years time when she went out for one early evening meetup with the newest boyfriend and it's now 10pm and there's still no sign of her and this is the fourth time she's done this and you *know* they're snogging in his car just two blocks away, just remember that you're grateful she's here.

Thanks so much for the good wishes, LL. We went to the hospital to see them today. We left about 4pm and they got the news that she was clear to go home about 5pm. Of course they are to monitor her closely and follow up with their pediatrician in a few days. What a relief!

She was discharged about 5pm today. She is still having a slight fever and had some diarhea (but they think that could be from the anti-biotics). They have to keep an eye on her and follow up in a few days with their pediatrician. So glad that everything is going well!
