I saw the first snow of the season today. Funny thing was it wasn't super cold, bank thermometer said 45. It only snowed for about 3 minutes and of course it didn't stick, but it was there so it's official.

I will have the whole house to myself tomorrow night and most of Friday, because hubby is going with his brother upstate to the friends house where they go deer hunting. They are going to scope out spots for opening day which is Nov 15th. Great minds must think alike because younger son T came out today to pick out a spot and set up his new pop up deer blind. He could use the venison. As I posted earlier in the month his teaching job is back to just subbing again this year and right now he is getting 2 to 3 days a week so the extra meat would really stretch his grocery budget. :)

Only four more days til we go on vacation! Yippee! I am so looking forward to that. The baby, J and possibly her hubby C, will arrive Sunday to dog/house sit while we are gone. We may have to leave before she/they get here, but hopefully will be able to stay at least an extra day when we get home.

Snow? Good grief

It was just a smattering (is that even a real word?) mostly flying through the air and like I said it was too warm to stick, but it was definitely snow. A bit early for us, but there it was.

Ah, venison! How lovely! Paul has a friend who hunts who sometimes gives us excess venison. It tastes wonderful -- kind of like the beef I remember from my childhood, before they started making everything low-fat and just sucked all the taste out of everything.

Yeah, and the nice thing about the deer around here is they are basically farm fed--in that they've been out eating all the corn and crops in the farmers fields-- as opposed to foraging in the forests. So it is a lot (although not entirely) like beef rather than what some people describe as a 'gamey' taste.
