Writing progress!

Wow, aside from b'day greetings I haven't posted here in a quite awhile. I really need to make more effort. And I shall, no way I'll post daily so maybe I'll try to post at least once a week. It sounds like a good goal. :)

I haven't been doing much fanfic writing as of late. In fact nothing more that a few drabbles since I did the LBB last year. But I really wanted to get back into it, and in the past have done well using other folks prompts for inspiration, so this year I signed up for the sshg_giftfest. As usual for me, I have trouble keeping it to a one-shot. So anyway, now I feel like it's really coming together.

In fact I sent this note to my alpha and beta the other day:

I've been plugging away at this and felt like it was kind of disjointed, and jumping all over the place. I knew where I wanted the story to go but not quite how I was going to get it there. (I tend not to be the writer who plots and plans and outlines every bit to the last detail. Instead, I am the writer that just goes her merry way with some sort of general idea of the outcome and sort of listens to the voices in her head).

Anyway this morning, BAM! Like a bolt from the blue, I suddenly realized how the rest of the story goes, and things that I had written earlier, for no apparent reason, now make perfect sense. Some are actually key parts to the story. (this happened when I was writing 'Things That Go Bump in the Night' when I suddenly realized that Slughorn was the villain.) Don't worry I'm not saying that he's the villain here but I do now have a definite path to the end of the story. In fact I've even seen the final scene!

Now there's only a few days til deadline, but I'm on the last chapter (I think... I hope) and I can't believe how things continue falling into place. Today I had another BAM! Moment. I realized that some of the background research I'd done on locations for parts of the story are now leading me directly toward my conclusion. Then it happened again, when I was writing a scene and some random thing I had written earlier in the story suddenly became so significant that I actually pumped my fists in the air and squealed in delight. This is sooooo cool!

Anyway, I'm rambling a bit. I'm really hoping it gets finished in time and it comes out readable.
