Gone for a few days

madeleoneI will be off tomorrow for a quick trip to sunny Florida. (No offense to Florida, but not my favorite destination, more of an obligatory trip, but hey, ya gotta do what ya gotta do). Some of you may recall that Mr. M's mom died last summer, but his dad is still there, 87 years old and no other relatives there except an estranged granddaughter, still he has no desire to move back to Michigan. This is all well and good while he is still healthy but what happens when things go bad? He's 1200 miles away. He has been making suggestions that we would surely love to spend lots of time (half the year) in Florida when we retire; and what's going to happen to his house, one of his three kids will want to keep it after he's gone,right? We surely won't sell his house will we? Well we have absolutely no desire to live in Florida, and neither do hubby's brother or sister (sorry again to you Floridians but my opinion of Florida is it's a lovely place to visit for a week or so but I would never want to live there) plus it is very far away from our kids and grandson here.
But anyway I got off the track, since I went and planned our Ireland trip in the spring, when we normally got to Florida, we now need to make our yearly pilgrimage to visit the father-in-law. Since I have very limited vacation time at work and they are getting very sticky about taking extra days even if I were willing to take time off without pay, they will only approve time off if there are days accrued so I can will only be there for 5 days (which is a good thing because FIL is the ultimate grumpy old man and he drives me 'round the bend, so 5 days is really ust about perfect). But Mr. M being the good son that he is, and being now done with work for the summer, is staying 3 weeks.
Anyway the whole point of this long post is to say that I may be offline after tomorrow, but then again, I have had fairly good luck in past years picking up a stray signal to connect my laptop so I may still be around. Hope to get lots of writing done while I'm gone. (fingers crossed). I will be back in Michigan on Monday but will spend the night at my daughter's house and be home next Tuesday. :)
