Update

Just  a quick note. We got the call yesterday morning at 5 am that hubby's dad had passed away during the night. By noon we were on the road (had to drive because there are a lot  of things we might have to bring home). Arrived in Floriday at 8:30 pm tonight.(Did not do the drive straight through thing like we did last year, that is just too tiring. Stopped halfway down in Tennesee.) The memorial service will be Saturday, then he will have a little military service at the cemetary on Mon. Things moved fast as he was just diagnosed in late July. I told hubby it is both a blessing and a curse, because although we thought we would have more time and yet at least he didn't suffer and he didn't linger. 

I expect we will be here until late next week. I am quickly falling behind in my exchange stuff. And up to this point I have been confident that even with Katie's wedding (which was wonderful and I didn't even get to gush about yet) I thought I would be able to finish my LBB story on time, but now I am not so sure. *sighs* 

Anyway just an FYI as to why I have fallen off the face of LJ. :)

I am so sorry. Please convey my sympathies for your family's loss. I know what it's like to lose your dad. As you say, though you can take solace in the fact that he didn't suffer. I wish you and your family safe journeys for your return.

Thanks, m. It wasn't unexpected, but it was sooner than we thought, a blessing in a way for him to go so quickly. *Hugs* you back.

Thanks, Teddy, Yes I too know what it's like, I lost both my parents when I was quite young, 20 for my mom and 21 for my dad. It's hard for hubs, but he realizes that both his folks had a good life and a long life. As I said in my earlier post, Dad was ready, so it's a blessing that he didn't linger.

Thanks so much for your kind thoughts. Luckily, hubby's sis and bro were here taking care of dad (he's retired and she doesn't work so they had the time to be here). So they had already started setting up some of the stuff for the memorial, etc. Things will work out.

Thanks so much for the kind words and the virtual hugs. Hubby seems to be handling things fairly well, although he has had some tough times. The memorial service was today, so there is a feeling of things sort of winding down now.

Yes this is so true, I was telling my sister-in-law something along this earlier. Even though it is a relief that he didn't suffer, still it was your father and it's hard to accept it. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. :)
