I got home from work and found a box in mailbox. "What's this?" says I. "I'm sure I haven't ordered anything lately." Of course as soon as I saw the return address I knew exactly what it was. One of my Bingo Prizes from
teddyradiator. She has already made me a podfic of a story she wrote for I prompt I gave her on hpcon_envy titled 'Do Tell' and is doing another for me of 'London's Burning' which was also an exchange fic. But this was a hard copy of the exchang fic she wrote for
subversa in the
sshg_exchange.
I was so excited I couldn't wait to get it inside and open it. But drat, the fates were against me because as I pulled up the driveway, I found my sister-in-law whom I was expecting, but she was early. Now SIL is a very nice lady, it's true. But also very straight laced , churchy type, Christian lady who would never, ever, ever and I do mean never, approve of such smutty, smut. I knew if I opened it in front of her she would want to know what it was, so I had to wait til now to open my package. Oh, the frustration!
It is beautiful! It is full of lovely fanart illustrations! And the words! Real fanfic words on paper, in a book, with fanart to match! What a treasure she has sent me! And CDs of some fave music she likes to listen to when writng, as an added bonus. You are too good to me, Miss Teddy.
Here is a pic of my book and CDs.

Date: 2012-03-30 05:07 am (UTC)sil: Oh, what's that?
me: Ummm...it's HP fanfic.
sil: Fanfic?
me: Stories fans write about their fave characters. This is about a grown up Hermione and Snape. They are married.
sil: GASP! OMG! You read those books about witches and wizards. They are the devil! I'm going to pray for you.
me: It's has lots of kinky sex and BDSM stuff, it's very hot!
sil: what's BDSM?
me: explains... blah, blah, blah, yada, yada.
sil:GASP! Even more evil! Let's pray together. It's not too late, I'm sure you can still be saved.
me: sighs, I knew I should have just waited til later to open my package.

Date: 2012-03-30 05:13 am (UTC)I also loved your explanation of BDSM - blah, blah, blah, yada, yada. To tell the truth, that pretty much sums it up anyway.

Date: 2012-03-30 05:25 am (UTC)My exposure to BDSM is purely fictional, but I am sure she would not even have any idea what it is and would FREAK OUT if she did find out. LOL! We just won't go there. It's safer for all concerned. ;)

Date: 2012-03-30 06:39 am (UTC)I have lots of people like your SIL in my family, which is why none of them will ever know I write. It's sad, but what can you do?

Date: 2012-03-30 04:41 pm (UTC)It is very nice she had the book printed out at Lulu (I think it was) and it actually has fanart illustrations. It is so cool.

Date: 2012-03-30 11:21 am (UTC)It almost makes me wish that I had done the exchange bingo thing, only in the end I'd probably still wuss out in case someone asked me to do something for their prize. Actually, I don't know which would be worse, the panic over whether I could meet the commitment, or the feeling of being the kid who never gets picked for teams if no one wanted me.
Snort! Yep, I'm a very sad individual. But you did good, hon, and teddy with I think I recognise some artistic help from Sempraseverus is an amazing and generous lady.
