DH-2 curiosity

Saw DH 2 for the second time today, (last week with both my lovely daughters and today with equally lovely hubby and son#2.) Enjoyed it both times but I noticed something curious, gonna put it under the cut even though it's not really a spoiler, more of a what the heck moment:
In the scene where the trio comes back to Hogsmeade to try to find a way into Hogwarts, the entire village is covered with snow. Snow! At first I thought the scene was just foggy and dark because it's at night, but on watching it this time I swear there were snow drifts everywhere. And this would not be odd if it were winter but it's the day before it all comes to a head at Hogwarts for the final battle which takes place in May. And even if nobody but us HP freaks knew that fact, none of the outside scenes at Hogwarts were snowcovered? So what the heck?
