There's a handsome new man in my life. My brand new grandson Samuel John M., born last Saturday March 29th. 8#13.8 oz and 21.5" long. Daughter K. and SIL B. are very proud and happy first time parents. She went into the hosp early Sat Morning around midnight when her water broke and the little man took his own sweet time arriving that evening at 7:55pm. We drove down to await the arrival and got to see him when he was only a couple of hours old. Here's a pic at one day old:




This makes grandbaby #3 for us but the first for my oldest daughter. While watching her hold this sweet bundle it suddenly hit me that my baby is somebody's mom, an eye stinging revelation. Even though she's been on her own for years, married for almost three years, in my mind K was still my little girl (and she always will be), but now she's a mom, Sam's mom. *sighs* Life marches on.

Here's another shot, (just because he's so handsome, I can't resist) 2 days old and  all dressed to come home from the Hospital on Monday.

He's lovely. I do like to see a baby with hair - all of mine had a head of longish dark hair when born :)

Mine as well. Sam's seems like it might be curly which both myself and my daughter have very curly hair.

*nods* Mine were born with it straight, and the girls' remained so, although the boy has hair that not only has a curl but is at least twice as thick! I know I was born with fairly long, dark hair as my mother told the tale of how she tried to shape it into one of those big curls on the top, but the nurses/midwives at the nursing hospital kept slicking it down and calling me a 'little Beatle' (it was late 1963)

Thanks. They were worried if he'd fit the shirt as they had ordered it in advance in a newborn size and at nearly 9# they weren't sure if it would fit. Luckily it did but probably not for long. ;)
