California Trip

I was talking with dear daughter last night that our California trip is less than 3 weeks away. Eeeeek! Time is flying fast.

We are going to be staying with an old friend of mine in Orange County (Tustin to be specific). I posted early last week to see if any fangirls from my flist might be in the southern California area and interested in setting up a meet up, and Mundungus, Keladry_Lupin and Blueartemis expressed an interest. I'm wondering if anyone else is interested. And if so when and where? (Mun, did you get the message I sent through LJ messaging?)  Minus travel days Jessie and I will only have 6 days there (3/1 through 3/6), so time will be tight, and to be fair to Jess, I can only devote one day to fangirl fun.  I would really like to be able to pull this off. Any takers?

Wow! I didn't see the original post, but I'm in Southern California. About ninety minutes north of Tustin. I would love to meet you, and any chance to see Ms 42 and Kel is welcome. The possibility of meeting Blueartemis is also a huge draw.

Having said that, my sons' birthdays are the 4th and 5th of March, so timing may be a problem. Let me know which day, and if possible, I would love to have the chance to meet you.

Ah! California and some fairly nice (read no snow) weather! I envy you and your daughter (but in a good way - not a bad way). We ended up having 11.1 inches of snow last weekend, so I'm a tad tired of that old man Winter!

Anywho, have a safe and wonderful trip and I hope your fangirl day is splendid and everything you would want!

Ooooh, that would be great! Right now we don't really have a specific date or place. I figured since we are on holiday we could be more flexible and was thinking a weekend day, (so the 3rd or 4th) would be best for the local fangirls. I hope we can figure something out. Will definitely keep you posted. :)

Oooooh! That would be so great! A date and place has not been decided upon, although Blueartemis did say that Saturday (the 3rd) would be better for her. I hope we can figure out a way to get something arranged. I guess I will need someone local to figure out where a central meeting spot could be. I plan to rent a car but I obviously am not familiar with the area.

How the heck did you manage to have your son's birthdays so close, back to back. My two boys are both on the 1st but in different months, one in April and one in October. :)

Wow, I saw your snow pics, so you ended up with 11 inches! We have had practically no snow here so far this year and I have this dreadful fear we are going to get slammed, probably right when we are supposed to be catching our flight to California. (God! I hope that doesn't happen).

I hope we can manage to set up a fangirl day, it would be really fun to meet some of my invisible friends. ;)

Awww... thanks sweetie. I visited friends in Colorado years ago, it was beautiful there, I really loved the mountains. I'd love to go back some day.

I am looking forward to this trip with my daughter and we will be staying with one of my best friends from high school. She was my maid of honor and we have stayed in touch all these years but I've never been to see her in California and she has lived there for many years. Thanks for the well wishes and keep your fingers crossed for no blizzards when we are ready to fly.

I think I could manage the 3rd, as it looks as if we'll be celebrating with family on the 4th as it's a Sunday.

I'm more than happy to head your direction, and as I'm not familiar with that area, I'll just let someone else choose.

I know! My sons are four years apart to a day. We used to joke that you knew how UberGeek and I celebrated the end of the school year. In truth, I was in labor a month early with our younger son, and he was induced. I had a choice of the 4th or the 5th, and we didn't want to overlap birthdays.

*shakes fist at LJ messaging notifications* I have now- thank you! Saturday the 3rd works beautifully for me. I live in the south Clairemont neighborhood, which is about a 10 minute drive from the zoo and downtown, so we could all meet at Chez 42 Nouvelle and carpool down (and parking can be a challenge on Saturdays, so it's probably wise). The zoo is huge and hilly, so everyone be sure to bring walking shoes! We can stay all day or do a brevity trip. One absolute must is the orangutan enclosure, where my favorite girl Janey will be turning 50. You'll want to have a colorful or interesting object in your purse to show her (she will come sit in front of you while you show her).

Let me know if this plan sounds feasible, and we'll make it happen! Wheeeeeee!!!!

*Squeeeeees!* (loudly!) Sounds fabulous to me. Like I said the SD Zoo was one of the things on Jessie's list of possible sites to visit, so if we can combine that with fangirl fun that would be great. Perhaps if others don't want to spend the day at the zoo we could arrange a meet-up for a late lunch or dinner or something.
