All about me, for my new LJ friends
Nov. 20th, 2015 08:41 pmWell I've found all these new LJ friends on
secretlypadfoot's friending meme. (Thanks so much BTW, it is nice to see my more postings on my flist). Since a lot of folks are doing an introductory post, I thought I'd join in.
first here is the info I posted on the meme

Any other interests you want us to know about? (Music? TV shows? Politics? Family? Pets? School? Hobbies?) I'm married, a mom to four kids all grown up now, four grandkids so far, retired, hobbies: reading, writing, netflix, travel, camping.
Other fandom stuff:
I didn't even know what fanfic was until DH was published (2007), then looking for HP info online I read a blurb about fanfic and started digging deeper. The first few fics I read were canon compliant, but then I found Dramione. Made more sense to me than HG/RW, that Hermione would develop a thing for the 'bad boy'. After a while I found SS/HG and honestly my first thought was Ewww! But I read a few fics and I got hooked, SS/HG is still my OTP but somehow Lumione also slipped into the mix, I don't know how that happened but Lucius just kind of grew on me. Although, my Lucius must be redeemed while still retaining some of his Luciusness. After a couple of years I started writing a bit, drabbles and short ficlets mostly, until I got brave enough to sign up for a fest. In addition to writing and lurking on LJ, I also do a weekly Tuesday rec over on
one_bad_man.
Most of the fic I read and write is Hermione centric, but I do like an older more mature HG, (am not big on schoolgirl HG, or just after the war). Fave pairings: SS/HG, Lumione, Dramione. Some other pairings that I also like to read are Snape/Hermione/Harry, Snape/Hermione/Lupin, Snape/Hermione/Draco, Hermione/Kingsley, (if anyone has any great recs for these, let me know). Secondary pairings Harry/Draco, Harry/Luna, Harry/Pansy, Harry/Millicent, (or same pairings with Ron instead of Harry), Draco/Luna, Draco/Luna/Neville. I also like fic with unexpected post war friendships—non romantic—like Snape-Neville, Snape- Harry, Snape-Ron, Hermione-any of the Malfoys, Hermione any of the Slytherins. I also love MLC fics.
I rarely read outside of HP, but I have read a couple: Hobbit, Big Bang Theory, Hook.
Real LIfe stuff:
In RL I am one of the old ladies hanging out here, just turned 61 last month. I've been married 41 years (all to the some guy) and have four grown kids 2 boys (ages 35 and 33) and 2 girls (30 and 26) And four grand-kids: two from oldest son: a boy age 5 and a girl age 3, one from oldest daughter a boy age 20 months, and one from my baby, a boy 2 months old. I retired two years ago from Home Health Care where I worked 23 years as a Physical Therapist Assistant (and 11 years before that in hospital and out-pt PT depts).
I love to read and write. Besides fanfic I like any kind of romance: romantic suspense, paranormal romance, bdsm romance, erotic romance, historical romance, (there's a theme here: you get the idea). I've discovered TV series on Netflix and tend to find a series and watch it beginning to end, for some reason I favor crime drama and mystery/suspense series with a sit/com here and there to break up the tension.
I love to camp. Although we do like the comfort of our RV now (spent plenty of years in tents but are too old and stiff for that nowadays--not sure I could get up off the ground if I had to.) we still prefer rustic camping to developed campgrounds and tend to frequent state or National forest campgrounds. I also love to travel and have gone to Ireland twice and Scotland once, as well as a couple of cruises to the Bahamas and the western Caribbean. Looking forward to doing more travel in the next few years as long as our health holds out. And although I've never got a chance to attend a HP con, I have been fortunate enough to meet a few of my fandom friends in RL on my various travels and hope perhaps to meet more in the future. :)
Two things I typically avoid discussing are Religion and Politics but just for the record. I was raised Catholic, but don't really follow anymore. About eighteen years ago I developed an interest in Wicca and neo-Paganism, and I kind of loosly worship nature/the earth/the cycle of life and basically try to follow The Wiccan Rede and the Rule of Three. As for politics I consider myself a liberal thus any political leanings go that direction.
So that's all about me! Looking forward to getting to know my new LJ friends

Date: 2015-11-21 01:49 am (UTC)And totally off topic, doesn't Aurette's Whom The Goddess Chooses kind of hit the spot as far as sshg and pagan festivals? Sorry, that just popped into my head as I was reading your post. 😄

Date: 2015-11-21 02:31 am (UTC)It is so exciting and I love it. I also do fb but I tend to post about different things there. All my peeps there should know by now how huge a geek I am though. This is much more personal and conversation prone which I prefer. I love just getting to talk with people.

It's so nice to see all this lovely activity on my flist! Livejournal has always been my online home, and it's been a bit heartbreaking to watch it slowly die down to almost nothing. I don't and won't do FB. I can't understand Tumblr. I do enjoy Twitter.
Oh, and one word: Shamy ;-)
There's going to be a nice HP conference in Vegas next year! Just saying!

Oh, I understand! Conventions can be intense. That's why I'm known to disappear into my hotel room to recuperate on a regular basis during conventions ;-)
